E-mail Print PDF
The Canon Scanning Utility Software for CR-25 CR-55 is meant to give you "some" out-of-the-box functionality but is no way considered as sophisticated as other check related financial software that is designed by a host of providers in the financial industry. That said, below is a "brief" list of the main features of this utility. Some customers (corner store check cashing, auto shops, and other retail or office customers, corporate departments etc.) may find that these are all the features that they need.

Canon Scanning Utility Software for CR-25 CR-55 Overview:
  • The Scanning Utility for CR-25/55 uses a special scanner driver, so installation of an ISIS/TWAIN driver package is not needed.
  • Scanned images are saved to the files specified before scanning. (Scan Batch File)
  • Scanned images are not saved, but printed to the printer specified before scanning. (Scan Batch Print)
  • By splitting the image display window, up to four image pages can be viewed.
  • Uses a magnetic head to read MICR characters printed on American checks.
    1. Saves the MICR data as the file name.
    2. A user-specified prefix can be added to the file name.
    3. Embed MICR data within the tag of the TIFF file.
    4. Store magnetically read MICR information in a log file.
  • The following file types saved by the Scanning Utility can be opened: TIFF (*.tif), JPEG (*.jpg) and BMP (*.bmp) files.
  • The Check "Imprinter" is a pre-scan device that will allow up to 32 characters, with a standard font selection, or 48 characters, with a small font selection, to be printed on the back side of the check "before" scanning (thus the term "pre-scan imprinter").

Advanced Settings Dialog Box:

The Pre-scan Imprinter device is controlled through the Scanner Driver Preferences Dialog box. By selecting the "MORE" button on the Preferences dialog box, the Advanced Settings Dialog Box appears.

Imprint supports up to 32 characters using a standard font. When Small Font is specified, a maximum of 48 characters can be printed.

In the "TEXT" box, enter the text characters to be printed. Click the Special button to select from the special text objects that can be entered using abbreviations. Select the special text object or symbol to be entered from the list. The selected special text is automatically entered in the text field as an abbreviation.
